The boutique may be closed, but we wanted to take this time to reflect in the holiday spirit. Thanksgiving is an occasion for family, friends and festivities so we put together some of our favorite moments that treasure these things. We all have things to be appreciative of, and among so many other things we here at Saja are thankful to have a job that reminds of that all the time! Wishing a very Happy Thanksgiving to our brides, their families and to everyone else too!

Kira's wedding in the Russian countryside is straight out of a fairytale. She and Misha wanted an intimate and serene experience where their families could get to know one another, and we have to say the result is breathtaking! We love the serene countryside setting and the gorgeous way she styled HB6365. Thank you so much to Olga Golovizina for capturing all of it for us! Many congratulations to this beautiful bride and her groom~ Saja: How did you meet? Kira: We met through mutual friends about 6 years ago in Russia. He was living in New York then and came to visit his family. After a year-long distance relationship I came to visit him and we haven't separated since. Saja: How did he propose? Kira: I was in Miami for Art Basel week with my friends and Misha was staying in New York. On the last day of my trip he wasn’t picking up his phone all day and in the evening when I was at the hotel he called me and said he was downstairs. I was super happy about this surprise but I didn’t see a bigger surprise coming! The next day we drove towards Key West and stayed at a hotel on one of the islands. That night we were having dinner at a restaurant on the beach when they brought a plate with desert and a flower. I was so relaxed and unaware that I didn’t see the ring in the flower right away! I ltheiterally noticed it when I already had a desert spoon in my hand ready to try the cake. Next moment Misha was on his knee asking me to marry him. Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? Kira: We wanted to do our wedding somewhere quiet and tranquil in Russia with our families and close friends. So we picked a venue in the countryside, literally in the middle of nowhere, with lots of trees, fresh air, stables with horses and a nice restaurant. Saja: What was your favorite part of the day? Kira: My favorite part was the ceremony. We both were super excited about our families meeting each other for the first time and being with us when we said our vows. We haven’t seen some of our guests for two years! So when they all came to congratulate us after we exchanged the rings I just couldn’t believe that it was all real! Saja: Is there anything you can point out about your picture that we might not have noticed?
Kira: It was the first warm and sunny weekend in two months! Usually summer in Russia isn’t that bad but we got really lucky with the weather (it’s been raining several weeks before and right after the wedding weekend). A little bit of inspiration for the autumn bride by our friends at Madrigal Films. CH6545 is such a striking, modern dress. We absolutely love the way Danielle and company captured the delicate sheer detailing and lustrous silk satin against such bold fall coloring. Enjoy ~ Vendors:

She is so elegant in HB6633 paired with our gold leaf headband by Mimi Shim at her intimate Brooklyn wedding. We found so much love with her and her family and are so happy to share the obvious joy in these photos! Thanks so much to Kristin Gladley of Stylish & Hip Weddings for sharing with us. Congratulations to Rachel and Ben! Saja: How did you meet? Rachel: Ben and I were set up by a mutual friend. The first e-mail he wrote to contact me was hilarious, and I knew immediately that it was the start of something really good. Saja: How did he propose? Rachel: We took our first trip together to Costa Rica, and after a great week Ben proposed after we had just gone parasailing at sunset (on Valentine's Day). I couldn't have been more surprised! Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? Rachel: It was important to me that we get married close to home, in the city where we both grew up. The Brooklyn Winery was the first place we looked at, and the only place we were both really excited about. It's such a beautiful space with a lot of character and we felt very comfortable there. Saja: What was your favorite part of the day? Rachel: I felt so lucky to have such a loving and supportive family who worked so hard to make sure I had a great day. There has never been a moment of my life when I didn't have them behind me 100% and my wedding day was no exception. I couldn't have done it without them. Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why?
Rachel: I love all of the photos but I think my favorite is the one of me and Ben under the chuppah. I was nervous about standing up there but Ben had this huge loving smile on his face the whole time, which was all I needed. Our bride, Tulsi wanted a look that would blend her Indian culture and her westernized wedding. The result is truly stunning! Her modern Chicago wedding is elegant with just the right amount of glamour, and she is gorgeous in OY6905 paired with a jeweled headpiece. Thank you so much to Matt Haas Photography for the amazing shots! Congratulations again to Tulsi & Jason ~
Lauren is such a special bride for us here at Saja. We have looked forward to her contagious smile and bubbly personality lighting up the store with each visit. It has been such a pleasure to get to know her and her amazing family, from her parents to sister to fashionista nieces! We are thrilled to see her special day at the Village Club in Lake Success turn out so beautifully, and so full of love. She is simply stunning in HB6565. Many thanks to Capture the Moment Productions for sharing with us! Congratulations to Lauren and her very lucky groom, Scott!
The scenery at our bride Tai's wedding is truly breathtaking. She and her groom are so striking against the rustic mountains in the background. Tai's fun and bubbly personality was the perfect fit for our BP6252 dress. Thank you so much to Jayme Christman Photography for capturing it all and congratulations again to this lovely couple!
There is such a soft elegance about our bride, Jenni's wedding. She looks so delicate in the sheer details on HB6622, paired with a flowers sash and how beautiful is that sunset during the ceremony? Thanks so much to Charla Storey for sharing these beautiful images. Many congratulations to Jenni and her groom~
From the serene woodland setting to the DIY details, we are loving Rachel and Tim's wedding at YMCA Camp Campbell!!
Rachel is playful, whimsical and so beautiful in AH6235. Thanks so much to Helena and Laurent Photography for sharing and congratulations to this lovely couple~ These photos from Danielle Poff's workshop are straight out of a day dream. HB6365 is the perfect dress for a bit of ethereal inspiration and the warm lighting in combination with the movement of this dress is captured so magically. Thank you so very much for sharing with us~
From the first time we met Kristen to her final fitting, she exuded such a level of tastefulness. Her intimate Brooklyn wedding is full of special meaning for the couple and unique history of the city. She is perfectly styled in HB6979, looking elegant, refined and truly stunning. We have absolutely loved getting to know Kristen and now getting to read about all that went into her special day with Andrew. Thank you much to Emma Kepley for sharing such incredible images with us! Saja: How did you meet? Kristen: Andrew and I were set up by a mutual friend. We arranged what we thought would be a quick coffee date in the West Village, but ended up staying for hours just talking, getting to know each other, and letting the day go by. It was an instant connection. Saja: How did he propose? Kristen: He proposed a couple blocks from our apartment in Brooklyn Heights on a quiet side street. We often go on long walks around our neighborhood, and he definitely surprised me on this one. Saja: Where did the wedding take place? Why did you choose there? Kristen: Our ceremony took place in the Othmer Library at the Brooklyn Historical Society, which, like the spot where he proposed, is only a couple blocks from our apartment. We chose the space not only because it’s gorgeous and intimate, but also because we felt strongly about making the whole day feel personal to us. The Brooklyn Historical Society embodied that sentiment perfectly. Saja: What was your favorite part of the day? Kristen: My favorite part of the day was reading our personal vows to each other. We chose to do this privately before the ceremony, and it was quite arguably the most emotional and love-filled moment of my life thus far. Saja: Is there anything you can point out about your pictures that we might not have noticed? Kristen: The room where we said our private vows holds some incredible pieces of Brooklyn Historical Society's permanent collection: paintings of Brooklyn dating back many eras as well as a rare map (there are only four left in existence!) of New York made in 1770 by Bernard Ratzer. Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why? Kristen: My favorite photo is the one of us standing at our food truck. It captures such a genuine moment. We were both really nervous about the day running smoothly, and this was the moment we could finally relax, eat, and dance the night away! Congratulations, Kristen & Andrew~ KC (as you can see) was a bride that embodied beauty and was so darn adorable, we treasured every moment we got to work with her. Hers is a quintessential New York love story with a happy ending. We had the pleasure of meeting her other half, Jeffrey who was equally handsome and had such a sense of humor. We love everything about her wedding but it was her 'Something Blue' that was passed down from her grandmother that just added the truly special finishing touch to the whole wedding. We will miss seeing her in person, but we hope to catch her on Broadway or on the big screen one day soon! These beautiful pictures were taken by Rachael Shane Photography. Saja: How did you meet? KC: We met at an apartment party where Jeffrey ended up making KC laugh…and a quesadilla. It was love at first Mexican food, a quintessential New York reality. Saja: Is there anything about the photos that we might not have notices? KC: Jeffrey’s pocket square was his late grandfather’s and it is embroidered with the letter J. KC is wearing circle pin on the back of her sash that was passed down from her grandmother to her mother and now to her. It was her “something blue.” Saja: How did he propose? KC: Jeffrey decided to propose in his underwear one Saturday morning by telling me there was a surprise on the top kitchen cabinet. I climbed on top of the kitchen counter to get to get to the top shelf and when I started opening the box Jeffrey was down on one knee. Saja: Where was the wedding? What made you choose there? Jeffrey: The wedding took place in historical Chautauqua, NY. We chose this location for its serene beauty and charm. KC’s family has been going to Chautauqua for the summer for 7 generations. Saja: What were your favorite parts of the day? Jeffrey: Seeing KC walk down the aisle and being able to tell our friends and family how I want to spend the rest of my life with her. KC: The ceremony. From Jeff playing pieces he’d written on guitar for both mine and the bridesmaid’s precession down the aisle to quotes from philosopher’s I had picked out to be read to Jeff writing the entire ceremony that was read and conducted by the officiant to us writing and reciting our own vows. It was very special. Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why? Jeffrey: My favorite picture (above) is right after we’ve said our “I dos” and are about to walk back down the aisle. We are both laughing and it encapsulates how we are with one another. KC: I love the photos of me walking down the aisle with my parents. I’m looking at Jeff and you can see the excitement in my eyes. I also love all of the pictures of us performing together. He’s accompanying my singing on guitar and we both look so happy because we’re doing what we love with each other on one of the best days of our lives. Many congratulations to this lovely couple ~
