We're ending the week with some absolutely breathtaking shots from our bride, Minou's wedding. Isabelle Selby is such a talented photographer and we love the way she captured the beauty of this bride as well as the natural landscape. Minou is stunning in HB6565 and we are so happy to see her wedding day turn out so full of love. Many congratulations to Minou and Nathan~
Maureen was such a lovely presence in our store. We always said she looked like Elizabeth Taylor, and she is truly stunning in HB6365 on her wedding day. With Yan's friends and family coming all the way from Australia and the couple's friends coming in from New York, they were surrounding by much love for their special day. We are so grateful to Heidi-O-Photo for sharing Maureen's special day with us. Many congratulations to Maureen and Yan, we wish you all the very best~ Saja: How did you meet? Maureen: We met in New York :) I was a grad student at NYU and he was doing engineering research there. Saja: How did he propose? Maureen: After my graduation, Yan took me to Blue Hill Stone Barns, a working farm/restaurant in Westchester, to celebrate. I love gardening and fancy myself a bit of an urban farmer (at least as much as a New York apartment will allow). He proposed in the vegetable patch. It was spring so all of the little vegetables were just coming in and the sun was setting over the Hudson. It was really gorgeous. Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? Maureen: We got married at a 1920s cottage on the cliffs over looking the ocean in San Diego, California. I grew up there and so the area is sentimental but also really beautiful. The whole event was outdoors under market lights. And the view of the sunset is incredible. Saja: Is there anything you can point out in the photos that we might not have noticed? Maureen: Our bridal party was made up of just our siblings, my brother and two sisters and Yan's brother. We got all got ready at my grandparents house which was really special. Saja: Which of the photos is your favorites? Why? Maureen: My favorite is the one of Yan and I looking out over the ocean. I love the succulents growing wildly on the cliffs, the beautiful sunset, and of course the dress looks gorgeous! Saja: What was your favorite part of the day? Why?
Maureen: My family is mostly from San Diego, but Yan is from Australia. A lot of his friends and family made the big trip for our wedding. Also, our friends all came out from New York. Having all of the people you love and care about most, especially from so many different places, there to celebrate with us was so humbling and so much fun. We were so excited to see these stunning shots of our bride, Therese on Style Me Pretty and are even more excited to share them with you today! HB6622 was the perfect choice for her intimate backyard wedding and we love the decorated veil she chose to pair it with. Many thanks to Aster and Olive Photography for sharing with us and congratulations again to Therese and Matt~
Happy Monday! We're starting off the week with some very beautiful and very New York photos from our bride, Lindsey's wedding. Her intimate affair took place at one our favorite venues, Housing Works Bookstore- which happens to be right around the corner from us! We are so grateful to have spent some time getting to know Lindsey and her lovely mother and are so happy to see her look so elegant in our HB6633 dress. Thank you so much to Sugar Beet Photo for the incredible shots. Many congratulations to Lindsey, Kamahnie and the rest of their amazing circle~ Saja: How did you meet? Lindsey: We met through a friend at one of our favorite bars on the Upper West Side, Amsterdam Alehouse. Saja: How did he propose? Lindsey: Kamahnie proposed on a snowy Friday night walk in December at Ralph Ellison Memorial Park in Harlem. Invisible Man is one of my favorite books and it felt perfect to be in that space, late at night, beginning a new chapter together. Saja: What was your favorite part of the day? Why? Lindsey: Saying our vows. It felt sacred, and exciting. There was one moment during the ceremony when our officiant asked us to look out at the people who were gathered in the bookstore to support and celebrate us. Looking into the eyes of our friends and family at such an important moment is something we’ll never forget. Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? Lindsey: We were married in the Housing Works Bookstore in Soho. We LOVE bookstores, and it felt important to us not only to be surrounded by our most-loved people, but also the stories we had loved and shared together. And because Housing Works is a non-profit, were also very happy to know that the money we spent on our event would benefit those who are in great need in our city. Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why?
Lindsey: Our favorite is the one in the street. It was the end of the night, we’d had the time of our lives, and it’s just so New Yorky. We're heading into the weekend some lovely photos from our bride, Jessica's wedding. We spent quite a bit of time getting to know Jessica and some of her bridal party. She is breathtaking in LD6015 alongside her bridesmaids in some of Saja's shades of blue. Her Shelter Island wedding is sweet, warm and elegant- just like Jessica. Thanks so much to the Thompson Photography Group for sharing these photos and congratulations again to Jessica and Bailey, we wish you all the very best~ Saja: How did you meet? Jessica: We met at the American Museum of Natural History where we were both working at the time. He had just started as a post-doc in ornithology, studying evolution in birds, and I had just finished my Master’s and was interning in the same lab. Saja: How did he propose? Jessica: Bailey proposed in Shelter Island, NY, at this great nature preserve that I love. He tricked me though, because that very morning he had casually said he should probably start thinking about a ring, so I was very surprised when an hour later he was on one knee with one in his hand! I reacted awkwardly at first because I was so surprised! Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? Jessica: We got married on Shelter Island. My parents live in Europe, where we are from, and my brothers and I live here, so our house on Shelter Island is where we reunite. We’ve been going there for years and it is a very special place for my family. Plus, it is a great place for seeing nature (birds!), and Bailey and I are big fans of nature. Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why? Jessica: I have two favorites. One is black and white of Bailey and I after the ceremony, as we are walking out of the tent, and I am holding his arm. We are both looking at the people around us and we just look so happy. I think our expressions just convey our happiness and gratefulness. I don’t want to sound conceited by picking one that is of just me, but I love the black and white one in the mirror where I first see myself with the makeup/hair/jewelry, and look surprised at the result. Everything was finally ready, all the hard work had paid off, I was so excited and happy about marrying the man I love! Saja: What was your favorite part of the day? Jessica: Honestly, I loved it all. I loved getting ready and having all my best friends right there at the inn, I loved running into people arriving, I loved putting on my dress and feeling like a princess. The ceremony was perfect, I loved having my cousin singing there, I loved that we all laughed during the ceremony. Surprisingly, I loved the formal photo shoot of Bailey and I because it gave us time to hang out together and be super happy. The reception and dinner were perfect even though they went way too fast, and I was so happy to have so much family and friends there. And I had a great time hanging out with just friends during after hours until 4am. Saja: Is there anything you can point out about your pictures that we might not have noticed?
Jessica: My mom sewed her beautiful necklace to my veil, and it was wonderful. Jenny makes a truly breathtaking bride. The Barn at Falling Water is the perfect setting for her all natural, serene wedding and we love all the attention that the bride and her family put in to create this day. BT6900 is such a special dress, with over a thousand hours of hand beading and cutout lace detailing, and we are so happy to see Jenny carry it so beautifully. Thank you so much to Hot Metal Studio for sharing these images and many congratulations to Jenny and Jake~ Saja: How did you meet? Jenny: Jake and I met at work - a pretty usual story - our unusual twist was we kept our relationship under wraps from our co-workers for a few years! Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? Jenny: The Barn at Falling Water We chose this location because it represented everything we as a couple like. The ceremony took place outdoors set among tall pine trees and the reception was held in the adjacent refurbished barn with a great dance floor. Saja: What was your favorite part of the day? Jenny: Hard question - It may have been the quite moment after our ceremony - I was getting my makeup/hair retouched and I could hear all of our friends and family laughing and having a good time. It was a great "quiet" moment during a crazy day when I go to sit back and soak the joy that was that whole day. Saja: Is there anything you can point out in the photos that we might not have noticed?
Jenny: We did all the of the decorations ourselves - including the flowers! It may seem strange - but when I look at the flowers I remember my sister mom and me sitting on the barn floor laughing and "crafting" - something that we've done all our lives. Our bride Katie's wedding has such rustic beauty. She is so elegant in HB6633 and we love the refined simplicity of her barn location. Thank you so much to the couple's good friends, Matthew McGlennen and Marianka Campisi for sharing these breathtaking images. Many congratulations to Katie & Tyler~ Saja: How did you meet? Katie: Tyler and I met in Brooklyn when he moved into the apartment below me. Its a good New York story. Saja: How did he propose? Katie: Tyler proposed on a sunny September day on a pier in one of our favorite neighborhoods in Brooklyn- Red Hook. Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? Katie: The wedding took place in a big barn in Central New York. We chose the location because it was beautiful and simple and near where I grew up. Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why? Katie: My two favorite photos are the ones of Tyler and I standing in the field holding hands. It was a very windy day and I love how you can see that from the photos- my dress, our hair, and Tyler's tie are all moving with the wind. I also love these photos because I remember how happy and relaxed we were- we had JUST gotten married! Saja: What was your favorite part of the day?
Katie: I loved every bit of our wedding day, all parts were my favorite. Courtney is the kind of bride that is beautiful from the inside out. Her kind and easygoing energy is something we will miss coming to visit the store. She is absolutely radiant in RC6257 and we're loving all of the charming details from her wedding at the Colonial Dames Society in Philadelphia. A huge thank you to Henry Chan of Henryshoots Photography for the images. Congratulations again, Courtney and Derek! We wish you all the very best~
After their original wedding venue abruptly shut down just one month before their wedding, Emily and Ryan experienced some major stress through the planning process. With much help and support from the NYC events community, we are so happy to see their "redo" wedding turn out so incredibly beautifully. She looks stunning in HB6622 paired with our BT2000 belt. Thank you so much to Clean Plate Pictures for sharing and many congratulations to Emily and Ryan~ Saja: How did you meet? Emily: We met the good old-fashioned way...online! Saja: How did he propose? Emily: It was February and freezing in NYC so we decided to do something fun and have a mini staycation in the city at the Nomad Hotel. Unbeknownst to me it was all a plan to sneak in a proposal. We had a great time lounging in hotel robes, ordering room service and soaking in the new engagement! Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? Emily: We had the extremely unfortunate circumstance of our original venue, reBar in Dumbo, abruptly shutting down one month before our wedding. After a few freak-out sessions, we got back to planning. Luckily, the amazing NYC events community rallied together to help the over 100 couples that were affected by the sudden closure and we ended up having a beautiful wedding at The India House in the financial district. It was the complete opposite vibe of the wedding we had been planning for over a year but my husband and I both agree it couldn't have been a better day. Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why? Emily: I really like them all, but I suppose I especially like the one above. The way my dress is slightly flowing to the side and the colors of the wall make for a pretty sweet pic! Saja: What was your favorite part of the day?
Emily: My favorite part was having all of our friends and family together all in the same place celebrating. It was a magical day and I don't think we'll ever manage to get all of those people together like that again! |
