Kathleen: Graham and I met right before I graduated college in New York. I was about to move away for a summer job but we decided be long distance. Halfway through the summer, Graham decided he wanted to move back to his hometown in Alabama for a few months before finishing school in Olympia, WA. I was game for a change so we actually ended up living together after 3 months of dating and moving across the country after 6 months! Almost 6 years later, we're married!
Kathleen: We were hiking in Glacier National Park in Montana. Graham leaned down to get a snack from his backpack and pulled out a gallon ziplock bag that held my engagement ring in a velvet pouch! He popped down on one knee on the trail! Immediately afterward we encountered a moose. It was really scary and hilarious and appropriate.
Kathleen: We got married right outside my hometown in Oneonta, NY. When I was a kid, I went to a YMCA day camp at this property that was eventually sold and turned into a wedding venue! It was great to have a bit of a personal history there and upstate NY is one of my favorite parts of the world!
Kathleen: Our ceremony was my favorite part. We were both crying for most of the ceremony. It ended up raining the day of the wedding which was a bummer because we had hoped to camp out after but we had the ceremony under a tin roof pavilion. The rain falling on the roof and everyone huddled up trying to stay dry just made it feel so intimate and special. I'm actually happy it rained!
Kathleen: We had so many friends and family involved in making our day so wonderful. I've known the catering company owner since I was little; our friends helped with practically everything from our save the dates, designs for our beer coozies, flowers, DJing, to making announcements and officiating our ceremony. It was truly a community of people that made our engagement and wedding so special. Sheena did an amazing job capturing the emotion of the day but it's hard to know all that from a photo.
Kathleen: So many but I really love the photo of me and Graham at the end of the night, out in the rain, throwing shakas!
