Today we have a little Winter TBT by Julie Gee Photography! Central Park is one of the most classically beautiful locations in all of NYC with countless backdrops for some winter wedding inspiration. The timelessness of HB6979 made it a perfect choice for this shoot, and we love the styling with our flower sash and a knit sweater. Thanks to everyone that look part in such a magical styled shoot~

We had the privilege on working with this bride and the groom! Sarah & Tim had such a loving energy about them from the moment we met them on a visit to the city. We are so excited to share their absolutely beautiful wedding day with you today. She is chic and elegant in HB6979 paired with a beaded hair clip (and we have to say Tim looks pretty dashing in his suit as well!) Huge thank you to Hoai-Huong Tran of Hopeless Wanderer Films for sharing your beautiful work and congratulations again to this truly lovely couple~
We absolutely love getting pictures from Kreativ Wedding Photography in Germany. There is such an elegant, brightness to the moments they capture, that it makes it difficult to choose between them! Christina & Sebastian's simple and colorful wedding in the sweet village of Solingen is the perfect example! She is beaming in our HB6979 from Victoria Rüsche, surrounded by pure love and joy on her special day. Thank you so much for sharing and many congratulations to Christina & Sebastian!
Happy Friday! We're heading into the weekend with some amazing images from a very stormy shoot at the Baltic Sea. When the forecast for one of Germany's strongest hurricanes came through, things looked quite dreary for Dina (wearing our HB6979 dress from Victoria Rüsche,) Lasse and their photographer, Katja. But with plans for this shoot already made, they continued towards the coast. With just a 15 minute window and a bit of fearless attitude, the result is truly breathtaking. Thanks so much to Katja Scherle of Festtagsfotografien for sharing this beautiful shoot and story with us! Many congratulations to Dina & Lasse!
From the first time we met Kristen to her final fitting, she exuded such a level of tastefulness. Her intimate Brooklyn wedding is full of special meaning for the couple and unique history of the city. She is perfectly styled in HB6979, looking elegant, refined and truly stunning. We have absolutely loved getting to know Kristen and now getting to read about all that went into her special day with Andrew. Thank you much to Emma Kepley for sharing such incredible images with us! Saja: How did you meet? Kristen: Andrew and I were set up by a mutual friend. We arranged what we thought would be a quick coffee date in the West Village, but ended up staying for hours just talking, getting to know each other, and letting the day go by. It was an instant connection. Saja: How did he propose? Kristen: He proposed a couple blocks from our apartment in Brooklyn Heights on a quiet side street. We often go on long walks around our neighborhood, and he definitely surprised me on this one. Saja: Where did the wedding take place? Why did you choose there? Kristen: Our ceremony took place in the Othmer Library at the Brooklyn Historical Society, which, like the spot where he proposed, is only a couple blocks from our apartment. We chose the space not only because it’s gorgeous and intimate, but also because we felt strongly about making the whole day feel personal to us. The Brooklyn Historical Society embodied that sentiment perfectly. Saja: What was your favorite part of the day? Kristen: My favorite part of the day was reading our personal vows to each other. We chose to do this privately before the ceremony, and it was quite arguably the most emotional and love-filled moment of my life thus far. Saja: Is there anything you can point out about your pictures that we might not have noticed? Kristen: The room where we said our private vows holds some incredible pieces of Brooklyn Historical Society's permanent collection: paintings of Brooklyn dating back many eras as well as a rare map (there are only four left in existence!) of New York made in 1770 by Bernard Ratzer. Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why? Kristen: My favorite photo is the one of us standing at our food truck. It captures such a genuine moment. We were both really nervous about the day running smoothly, and this was the moment we could finally relax, eat, and dance the night away! Congratulations, Kristen & Andrew~ We are so grateful to have such incredible (and not to mention gorgeous) brides here at Saja, from the inside out. Emily and her groom started dating the first week of their freshmen year at college, and make quite the stunning couple so many years later! HB6979 is truly the perfect dress for Emily and she told us that everyone complimented the same thing all day long! We're also loving the super cool styling of her groom! Thank you so much to Veronica Varos for capturing such beautiful shots and many congratulations to these college sweethearts! Saja: How did he propose? Emily: On my birthday- he planned an event-filled/ friend-filled all day adventure culminating in group laser tag when he popped the question in the middle of a match! Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? Emily: Morgantown, West Virginia- where we met in school. It's gorgeous- we did it outside along a riverfront and it was middle ground for both of us! Saja: What was your favorite part of the day? Why? Emily: Our vows- we wrote them and they could not have been more perfect. Saja: Is there anything you can point out about your pictures that we might not have noticed? Emily: Just make sure you notice how fly my husband looks! Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why?
Emily: All of them! Our photographer is masterful at capturing moments! Our bride Kim's wedding at their favorite family vacation spot is full of class and elegance. She looks timelessly beautiful in HB6979 and we absolutely love the way she paired the simple white flower in her hair and our OY2000 sash. Thanks so much to Tanyia Oulman Photography for sharing such beautiful work and congratulations again to Kim and Colby!! Saja: How did you meet? Kim: We met through Colby’s little sister and my best friend Tanya. We were in grade 7 and he was 2 years older than us. Later in High School we had a connection but it didn’t feel like it was the right timing. Fast forward 7-8 years, we reconnected and have never been happier! Saja: How did he propose? Kim: Colby proposed on our summer holiday down in Sandpoint, Idaho where my family has been coming for over 27 years. It was perfect proposal, ring and setting in my favorite spot! Saja: Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? Kim: Our wedding took place in Sandpoint Idaho, actually in a tiny town right outside the city limits called Dover. It was a natural fit for us because we love Sandpoint so much, choosing the date was easy (July 5th ) because we wanted everyone to come and celebrate the whole weekend and take in July 4th as well! We were married in over 100 yr old barn on Dover Bay’s property. It was the perfect place to get married! Saja: What was your favorite part of the day? Kim: The best part of the day after marrying the love of my life, was seeing two families join and have such a great time together throughout the week before and weekend of the wedding! We really had the best time! Saja: Which of the photos is your favorite? Why?
Kim: Love the photos of the my dress, hair and the flowers I really feel like they all went together so well! ... we couldn't agree more! We love all the details of Lianne's beautiful upstate NY wedding. She fills us in on how she met her husband and how they chose their lovely venue. Thank you to Nickel City Studios (http://www.nickelcitystudios.com/) for sharing such amazing images ! Saja: How did you meet? Lianne: I’m originally from Warsaw, NY a small rural town in Western New York, and he’s from Buffalo, NY. We met by chance, at Octoberfest, a fall festival in Ellicottville, a small ski town about an hour south of Buffalo. How did he propose? It was a quiet early Saturday morning in January. We were still in bed, just lounging the morning away. That’s when he did it, and even though it wasn’t a big production or anything, I loved how real and intimate it was. It’s a moment all our own. Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose it there? We chose to have the ceremony and reception in East Aurora, NY at a country club called Crag Burn. Crag Burn used to be the old polo grounds of the famous Knox family of East Aurora in the early 1900’s. The clubhouse actually used to be the old horse stalls, which they kept in the design after it was renovated in the 60’s. You’ll see that in some of the pics. Jeff is an avid golf lover and I am a country lover as well as a history buff. We wanted a place that was meaningful, unique, could facilitate an outdoor wedding, and a place that was easy for both of our families to come to (East Aurora is smack in the middle of Buffalo and Warsaw.) This spot melded it all perfectly. The clubhouse evokes a Scottish-European rustic vibe that we instantly found charming, and the grounds are so off the beaten path that the place is totally quiet (nothing ruins a good ceremony like busy traffic sounds in the background). What was your favorite part of the day? I’d have to say, the ceremony and vows. Although it’s slightly jarring being in front of so many people trying to recite lines and not mess up, it’s a moment every woman dreams about since she’s a little girl. I always wondered how it would be, and how I would feel in that moment, and it was amazing. Is there anything you can point out about your pictures that we might not have noticed? We did a “first-look”, which means you see your man before the ceremony, but you get all the pictures out of the way without being rushed, so you can enjoy the reception. We did our first look at Knox Farm (where the Knox family of the 1900’s lived in their summer mansion). The Knox property is now a state park and has all sorts of great photo locations, and was a five-minute drive from Crag Burn. The dress held up so well. The photographers kept telling me to let them know if I was “melting” from the heat, but I could not complain one bit. It was so perfect for an outdoor wedding. Which of the photos is your favorite? Why? Gosh I have so many. One is us kissing at the ceremony. It went so fast. We were holding hands saying our vows and then when he said we could kiss, we ended up never letting go of our hands. I didn’t even realize it at the time. But I think it makes the image quite compelling. And I love that I’m on my tip-toes. :) You can see so much love in all of Emma and KJ's wedding photos. This summer wedding in Richmond, Virginia at the Monumental Church and VA Historical Society could not be more perfect. Thank you so much to Alisandra Photography (www.alisandraphoto.com/) for sharing these images ! How we met: KJ: It was the Fall of 2009 and I had just started my junior year at James Madison University. I began to lead a small group of freshmen guys through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and one of my best friends Charity had started leading one for freshmen girls. It was during the New Student Retreat that my guys and I performed a skit to mock the stereotypes of freshmen life. As Charity and her group of girls made their way on to the stage, I saw Emma for the first time. I thought she looked so cute in her yellow JMU sweatshirt and even remember thinking to myself, “One day I’m going to marry that girl.” But…seeing as I was a junior and she was a freshman, I dismissed the thought and kept my distance for a while, but I never forgot seeing her that night. Emma: When Charity told me that she had a friend interested in “the girl with the yellow sweatshirt”, I hid it in my closet for weeks. Who was that guy? Eventually, I loosened up and when KJ asked me to lunch, I agreed. We talked for hours, but barely ate a thing. From there, we had many more lunches, studied together, talked on the phone for hours, and began dating that summer. How KJ proposed: KJ: To tell you how I proposed, I have to go back a ways in our relationship to 2010. About two days before Christmas, I decided I would write her a story about our relationship up until that point. I titled this book The Adventures of the Bird and the Worm, and it featured a bird and a worm who immediately became friends after meeting in the forest. The story follows the two friends as they encounter a boy and a girl who are falling in love with each other, and the bird and worm end up joining them on their adventures together. I used a basic set of Crayola markers to draw my outfit, and for Emma’s, I drew her in a simple pink and white dress with pink daisies on it. Not only do all the lines rhyme, but I also illustrated each picture to go along with it. The adventures of the boy and girl were actual experiences Emma and I shared together, joined by the bird and the worm. A little over a year ago, I had the idea to bring the story to life. I began my search for the fabric that I would get made into the pink sundress her character wears in the book. Once I found it, I ordered it and met with a friend of Emma’s who could sew it for me. She gave me a few patterns and I chose the one that most resembled my imagination. I wrote an entirely new story about the adventures we’ve had since the last book… Emma: It was a Monday. I went into my boss’ office for our weekly meeting and she told me that she needed me to drive to Richmond to pick up a package. Strange, I thought, but ok. I’m still new here so I’ll practically do anything you want me to. I drove down to Richmond and as I approached the office door, still not knowing why I was there or who I was meeting, I heard someone call my name. I turned around to see that it was Chad, KJ’s friend. When he told me to follow him, I looked at him strangely, but agreed. I guess you could say I’m easily convinced. On the way back to the car, I caught our friends Sam and Jordan filming me from their car. I knew something was up, but I didn’t quite know what I was in for. When we arrived at Chad’s house, I was greeted by a bright blue box. Inside was a white sundress with pink daisies on it that looked all too familiar. I put it on and it fit perfectly…like it was made for me (It was! By my very talented friend Shea). “We are going on a trip”, they told me. We drove for what seemed like forever, (I was later told it was only an hour) and we arrived at a house on the lake. When I arrived, I walked down the driveway to find various items that KJ held onto throughout the course of our relationship—the yellow sweatshirt and receipt from our first date among others. At the very last station, I found the new book KJ wrote and began to read it. KJ: I kid you not…it had been raining the entire week up until this day. I purposely waited until she drove up to the location to draw in the sky on the final page so that it would be 100% true to real life. I decided to draw a grey sky with clouds, but as she stepped out of the car the clouds broke and the sun was shining unbelievably bright. While still in my hiding place, I drew an orange sun peeking out from behind the clouds. As she read the final page, I dropped down to one knee and proposed to her exactly how the character in the story did. When she said yes, I pointed to the picture on the final page, and off to the distance the bird and the worm were right there watching us in the grass. Emma: We decided to celebrate by having dinner together, just us two. We contemplated how to tell family and friends, and decided to make the calls on the way home. However, when we drove by Chad and Ali’s to pick up my car, I noticed my Mom’s car outside. I gave KJ a look and he told me that he just invited my parents over. When we walked inside, I was completely taken aback to see not just our families, but many of our dearest friends there to celebrate with us. It was an absolutely perfect day and I’m so grateful that so many were able to share in such a special day for us. Our wedding venue KJ and I were married at the beautiful Monumental Church in Richmond, Virginia. It was designed in 1814 by Robert Mills, America’s first native-born architect and Thomas Jefferson’s only apprentice. It is unique for many reasons – It’s Greek revival architecture, turquoise Delorme dome, and Prussian blue altar to name a few. We chose this historic landmark because we knew that it’s perfect simple elegance would create the perfect romantic setting for our ceremony. What was your favorite part of the day? Just one (of many) favorite moments of the day was our first look as KJ was waiting at the top of this beautiful staircase to meet me. The anticipation I felt while climbing up the stairs was incredible – I could sense all these feelings and emotions I felt over the past few years just welling up inside me. I had to stop and take a deep breath before going all the way up! Seeing him waiting for me was one of the best feelings ever – pure joy and thankfulness. Is there anything you can point out about your pictures that we might not have noticed? The photo of KJ holding black, leather-bound journals: Beginning January 14th, 2010, KJ wrote a letter to his future bride on the 14th of every month. He gifted the journals to me at breakfast on the second day of our honeymoon, July 14th 2014. I may have cried in the middle of the restaurant. I love getting to read them aloud to KJ. Favorite Photo: Arriving at the altar with my father to see KJ wiping away his tears – I really had to hold it together (so did everyone else from what I hear!) The look on his face is something I’ll never forget and I’m so happy Ali captured such a beautiful moment. Other: I found my gown when I stumbled across a photo online! I HAD to see in person so I drove all the way up to Maryland to a small bridesmaid’s boutique. I tried on only 3 other gowns (all Saja!) and knew I had found the perfect dress for me! Katelin & John had the loveliest morning wedding on Bainbridge Island right near Seattle. Katelin answered a few questions for us about her wedding day and her love story with John..... How did you meet? Three years ago, a move across the country and an internship brought us together in the Pacific Northwest. We went from strangers living in different cities, to falling in love one summer and deciding to spend the rest of their lives together, forever. I (Katelin) grew up in Indiana, and John in the Pacific Northwest. Our lives crossed paths a few years ago, thanks to a few mutual friends, an internship and a whole lot of love. I met John while I was interning at YES! Magazine, on Bainbridge Island. We met through one of John’s best friends, and one of his roommates at that time, Harry. Harry had met me before, while visiting my college, Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana. While in Muncie, Harry promised that he would introduce me to some of his friends. He described one who played the tribal flute, and had an interest in dinosaurs. Over the next few weeks we started seeing each other more and more. We went on walks together, a concert, watched fireworks together on the 4th of July, and spent a weekend together on the Oregon Coast. At the end of the summer, we decided that they were both in it for the long run, no matter how many miles separated them between Muncie, Indiana and Seattle, Washington. How did he propose? I moved back to Seattle after I graduated from Ball State, once we decided that living in the same zip code was way better than the long distance relationship. A year later, John took me to Ruby Beach, Washington. This was one of the spots in Washington I had traveled to with my Grandmother on my first trip to Washington before I had met John. We spent the day walking the coast and taking in the sweet beauty of it all. At the end of their walk, we sat on a pile of driftwood and John asked me to marry him. I said yes :) Where did the wedding take place? What made you choose there? The wedding took place on Bainbridge Island, an island just a 35 minute ferry ride from Seattle. It was a morning brunch wedding on a Sunday morning. We both love brunch so we decided that would be the way to go with our wedding! John grew up on the island, and I lived there during my internship when we first met. We decided to have the wedding on Bainbridge, knowing it would be a destination wedding for almost everyone on my side of the family / friends. We wanted everyone to experience our favorite state, and see Seattle in the summer (thats when the weather is perfect here). We also secretly hope that everyone will move here now. What was your favorite part of the day? Our wedding day is just full of so many moments I will remember forever. From walking down the aisle and seeing so many family, friends and loved ones from all over the country in our favorite place was just something I’ll never forget. My father and I danced to a recording of a song my Grandmother sang, which was so so special. She had passed away a few years ago, but had the chance to meet John and give me her blessing for him. It was a wonderful moment, dancing with my Dad and hearing her voice pour over the speakers. It felt like she was there. And of course, seeing John waiting for me as I walked down the aisle was the best moment of them all. Is there anything you can point out about your pictures that we might not have noticed? Everyone who played a role in our wedding- from our pastor at our church, our makeup artist and two super talented photographers-- they all played a significant role in our lives. Our photographers were two of my best friends from college and it was so special to have them there to document our day. My makeup artist Crystal, had been my small group at my church back in Indiana from when I was a little 6th grader to a senior in high school. We just were so glad to have all of these people who invested in our lives be there to witness the promise we made to each other. Which of the photos is your favorite? Why? Probably the photo of my father and I. I had no idea that Val, our photographer had captured that moment of him seeing me for the first time. He’s been such a big support throughout my life (along with my Mom) and has dealt with being the father of four girls, so well! He’s the best Dad. Any other comments/details you want to share? I’m a quadruplet and the second of all of us girls to get married. My parents rented a home on Bainbridge Island for two weeks during the time of the wedding and they all could be out here for the wedding, and get to really know our home! It’s hard some days living across the country from my family, but it was the best to see them going on hikes I love, eating at my favorite places and really enjoying the place I call home now. Thank you to http://vallarinacreative.com/ for sharing these images ! Molly makes an absolutely stunning bride. We had the pleasure of working with not only her but her bridal party too! After spending so much time with her and her friends and family, Molly has become a friend to us here at Saja. We are so happy to see everything come together so perfectly for her wedding. Thank you so much to Alexandra Meseke for capturing it all and sharing with us! Congratulations again, Molly!!
Christine is a past bride of ours, but has also become a friend to us here at Saja. Her wedding took place at Housing Works, a charming bookstore venue right around the corner from us, so we had the pleasure of dressing Christine here in the store! It was an incredibly special experience to share those pre-wedding moments with Christine and her amazing family. She makes such an elegant bride and looks truly stunning, head to toe. Her wedding was intimate, full of love and distinctly New York. Thank you so much to Marija Thomas for sharing some incredible shots with us!
Congratulations to Christine & Jeff, we wish you all the best! We're taking a mental trip to the West Coast this morning to admire these photos of Rebecca & Nick's wedding. Rebecca's style is simple and elegant. She makes a truly stunning bride! Thank you so much to Deborah J Huber Photography for sharing such amazing work. Katharina's lovely images come to us all the way from Berlin today! She just looks so elegant and ethereal against those old world backdrops! This picture is one of our favorites. What a beautiful shot of the happy couple, just look at those smiles! Congrats to the cute couple! A good friend of the bride took these images, check out her website here: www.carinawendland.de. Thanks for sharing!
We are SWOONING over these pictures of our bride, Kathrin. We remember when Kathrin came to the store, detailing all of the things she wanted for her City Hall wedding and photo excursion around Manhattan. It's safe to say that she, along with the incredible talent of Sascha Reinking Photography, exceeded expectations! Kathrin is gorgeous in HB6979, we hope her wedding was everything she hoped for and then some. Many, many congratulations!!
